South Africa, which generates most of its power by burning coal, increased electricity production by 2.8 percent in December from a year earlier.
The country generated 20 598 gigawatt hours during the month, Statistics SA said on 1 February. Power consumption rose 3.7 percent to 18 898 gigawatt hours. Eskom increased electricity output in the month by 3.1 percent to 19 761 gigawatt hours Additional information: News date: 02/02/2007 |
