Maputo to host Africa energy ministers meeting

Twenty-two African energy Ministers and specialists from the continent and different parts of the world will meet in the capital Maputo next week to discuss petroleum and gas explorations as well as upscaling of energy access in Africa.
The meeting will look at supply and use of energy in Africa, the development and construction of hydro-electric dams, power plants, renewable energies, power demand, reforms and participation of the private sector.

"We want to adopt a global and common position that would be consolidated in a declaration to be called 'Maputo Declaration' outlining security and stability of energy in Africa", Mozambican Energy Minister, Salvador Namburete said.

"We want to harmonise problems and projects of continental or regional interests", said Namburete.

He said the meeting would also look at ways of sourcing financial resources to provide the member states with the ability to develop and implement integrated energy projects.
