France's development agency AFD plans to invest €100-million to help South African electricity utility Eskom build a wind farm, the company said on Thursday. "We shall sign tomorrow a finance agreement with Eskom (for an) about €100-million loan for an investment in a windmill factory," Jean-Michel Severino, CEO of the French Development Agency (AFD) told reporters. Eskom is battling to meet fast-growing demand for power, leading to costly blackouts and plans to spend billions of dollars over the next five years to increase capacity. The 100 MW wind farm would help provide power to Cape Town, South Africa's second biggest city. Additional information: Web site AFD News date: 28/02/2008 |
