Uganda: Invitation for bids for construction of Suam micro-hydro power scheme

Within the context of bilateral cooperation between the Governments of Uganda and Germany, GTZ supports the sustainable development of the Ugandan energy sector. As part of this support, GTZ is promoting the construction of a micro hydropower scheme at Suam Village, Bukwo District in Eastern Uganda. The scheme shall include an electricity minigrid to serve small and medium enterprises, Government Institutions, households, etc.



GTZ invites sealed bids for furnishing the necessary labour, materials, equipment and services for construction of Suam Micro-Hydropower Scheme, comprising:

  1. Civil works (intake works, 0.6 km of masonry and reinforced concrete channel, reinforced concrete chambers, laying of DN 500mm and DN600mm welded steel pipe including fittings and anchorage and construction of power house including foundation for electromechanical equipment).
  2. Electromechanical installations (turbine, hydroelectric generator, associated control systems and accessories)
  3. Electrical works (4.5 km of medium and low voltage overhead mini-grid including installation of transformers).

Technical and Financial Bids (ONE ORIGINAL AND TWO COPIES EACH) shall be delivered to the same address on or before Monday, 11th May 2009 at 3:00 p.m and be clearly marked: "TENDER FOR CONSTRUCTION OF SUAM MICRO - HYDROPOWER SCHEME"

A pre-tender meeting shall be held on Tuesday, 14th April 2009 at the GTZ Office Kampala, starting at 3:00 p.m.
