The project company Terrawatt Planungsgesellschaft mbH from Germany is building the first wind farm in Nigeria. The 10 MW farm will help improve the country's electricity supply.
Through the Federal Ministry of Energy, the Nigerian government had invited tenders for the turnkey construction of a 10 MW farm in the state of Katsina. Terrawatt mbH won the tender and will erect 37 wind turbines from the French manufacturer Vergnet with a capacity of 275 kW each. Terrawatt is in charge of project coordination, management and supervision as well as technical control. The project is scheduled for completion within 30 months.
