South Africa: Spitskop draft scoping report open for public comments

A Draft Scoping Report has been produced for the planned Spitskop Wind Farm project which is located in the province of Eastern Cape, South Africa.
The release of the Draft Scoping Report provides stakeholders with an opportunity to verify that the issues they have raised have been captured and adequately considered within the study.

The Final Scoping Report will incorporate all comments received prior to submission to the National Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA).

The Spitskop wind farm project has an estimated total capacity of up to 420MW and is expected to connect to the Poseidon substation, located 46km from the site. The construction including all infrastructure work is estimated to begin in 2013 and to take 24 to 30 months. RES anticipates to have the wind farm up and running in 2015.
