South Africa goes ahead with RE tender

The Department of Energy (DoE) has released information about the submission of proposals for the financing, construction, operation and maintenance of renewable energy projects including onshore wind, solar thermal, solar photovoltaic, biomass, biogas, landfill gas and small hydro.
The relevant request for proposals (RFP) documentation will be available for download from midday on 3 August 2011 from the Renewable energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme's website (http://www.ipp-renewables.co.za/) and a bidders briefing session is scheduled for 14 september 2011. Payment of a non-refundable deposit of R15 000-00 is required in order to submit a proposal and bids must be open for acceptance for 300 days from the bid submission date.

On acceptance of the proposal, an Implementation Agreement with the DoE and a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Buyer will be entered into.
