New 4 MW hydroplant for two tea factories in Bomet, Kenya.

Kenya Tea Development Agency will build a Sh800 million hydropower project in Bomet. The project is undertaken by Kapkoros and Tirgaga tea factories.
It will reduce electricity expenses incurred by the processing plants. The factories unit manager William Bii said the construction of the plant will start in a month's time.

Speaking in a press briefing yesterday, Bii said the project will enable the factories to save Sh106 million in electricity bills.
The plant will be set up on the Kisonoi River in Bomet Central.

It will produce upto 4 megawatts of electricity. Bii said the company has devised ways of cutting down the cost incurred on wood fuel by the factories.
